The weeks that were | Weeks 25 & 26

So basically, the lack of any activity on this blog and barely any activity on other ‘Mamma Bear’ social media says quite a bit about how busy I have been. Writing here has been on my mind constantly, but I have so many things that I’ve been thinking about that somehow, posting here did not happen.

Although, in the larger scheme of things, it’s a good thing that I have things to keep me occupied. I’ll tell you more in the post. In short, once again, not only have I combined two entries together, I have also managed to not have a single post in the last two weeks. If it wasn’t the other stuff I was doing, I’d be hating myself right now.

WEEK #25 & 26

The Feels & What I did

Week 25

This week started with our 24-week doctor’s appointment. From June 1st, our doctor has moved to a new hospital and boy was the experience different. For one, the ‘new’ hospital is brand new. In fact, when we were there, there was still some work going on. But I loved the feel of the new place because even the people and the process were so different – good different.

At my 20-week scan, we had been told that the amniotic fluid in the sac was less than it should be. So I’ve been drinking arginine granuels mixed with water since then. During this appointment, the doctor said that ideally, there wouldn’t have been another scan till I was 8 months, but we should do another one in three weeks to check if there’s improvement. So at the end of this week, I’ll get to see baby again 😀

I also made another batch of iced-tea (and I’m drinking the last glass as I type this 😀 Can’t believe it lasted two weeks.)

This week my grandparents came back from visiting my uncle in the US and they got me a hug packet of Reese’s peanut butter cups! Yum! Yeah, I’m 29 and I’m crazy for peanut butter cups. Sue me! 😛

I spent quite a bit of the end of the week with them mostly because of the yummy food (that I didn’t have to cook.) We also checked out one more place for my traditional baby-shower function.

Week 26

This week’s trend was the husband coming home late, like, later than usual. On Monday night, he called me at fifteen minutes past MIDNIGHT to say he’s leaving work. It was almost 1 AM by the time he reached home. Tuesday and Wednesday we only marginally better. But I was tired and somehow, sleep deprived (see below) that one day I woke up at 2:30 PM. Yeah, PM!

I called my sister and thankfully, my grandma had made one of my favourite dishes for lunch and they had plenty of extra food. So my lunch (and dinner) was sorted. My husband was working late again so he had dinner at work. My sister came back home with me and we watched some Game of Thrones (she finally caught up with Season 6 :D). Early Wednesday morning, it rained for a bit but it was over before we knew it.

On Thursday, we got some good news. My SIL had her baby – it’s a girl!!! We’re all so excited. I can’t wait to go meet her them. But for me, it might be a while before I get to see her. Skype/Facetime will have to suffice till then 😦

That day I also caught up with my friends. I was feeling so bored with no one to talk to. I know I hung out with family but I needed to be with people my own age. Thankfully, an hour and a half with them was enough 🙂

On Saturday our maid came back and there’s been some relief when it comes to housework. For the first time in almost two months, my husband and I watched a movie and just lazed around on Sunday afternoon. In the evening, we FaceTime-d with my BIL & SIL and saw the baby. She was sleeping, but at least we got to see her. 😀 😀 Now I can’t wait to hold her. And honestly, knowing that they live in another city and I can’t see them often, I don’t know how I would have handled a new baby in the family and not getting to play with her if I wasn’t having one of my own in about three more months. That’s the only thing keeping me sane. 😛

Health & Body

Week 25

This week there wasn’t any swelling in my feet, but since I was doing the dishes regularly, I think it aggravated th Carpal Tunnel and my hands (forearms, mostly) hurt like hell.
Also, I think it’s safe to say that my aversion to lavendar scents is officially gone. It almost felt like I was challenging my body to throw up when I decided to buy Palmolive’s Lavendar body wash when I had to replace the previous one. To be honest, I’ve always loved that scent more than anything else and it wasn’t until the pregnancy that I started to feel otherwise. And this week, when it was time to put it to use, I’ll admit I was a little hesitant. But to my surprise, I loved it. It was one of the most relaxing showers I’ve had in the past few months and I wasn’t even bathing in hot water (the temperature here had been 34-39 degrees. Celcius.) I think I can now get the bathroom freshener too.

Week 26

I’ve slept in late on more than one occasion this week and that’s purely because I’m not able to sleep well at night anymore. For one, the frequent trips to the bathroom don’t make for uninterrupted sleep. Add to that the fact that switching sides at night takes around a whole minute and the fact that since I cannot put pressure on my abdomen when I move, my body inadvertently uses the pelvis and damn that hurts. When I do get up to go to the bathroom, the first few steps are so hard that it feels like I’m an old lady with back and knee problems.
During the week, I once again devoured another entire medium pizza after two whole months and it felt good. Friday night I also watched The Conjuring 2. And I feel FINE! 😀
However, I noticed one thing this week. Not that I do things differently on Saturday, but Saturday nights are the only time in the week that I pee around five times in the night. I don’t know how, but that’s how it has been for the last three weeks or so.

What Baby Bear has been up to

Weeks 25 & 26

Well, during Week 25, I felt like the movements had reduced a bit. But this past week, I feel like baby has been active more than ever. And here’s something interesting, whenever there’s music playing – whether I’m intentionally listening to music, or it’s a song on TV or even the opening credits of a show – there’s increased activity. I’m glad that baby seems to be enjoying music already. We’re going to get along well. 😀
